UK Seahorses – 1913 – The £1 stamp
The series called “Seahorses” was issued on six different occasions from 1913 to 1934. The market values of the 4 stamps (2/6d, 5/-, 10/- and £1) change according to which issue is involved as well as, naturally, on the basis of condition.
The £1 stamp (SG 403 and 404) was issued only on 1913 in 2 shades.
The correct identification of the colors of all the Seahorses stamps (to attribute them properly) will always be a a challenge both for expert and for novice alike.
The following is the £1 stamp.

On the left is SG 403 (Michel: GB 144, Scott: GB 176, Yvert: GB 156, Stanley Gibbons: GB 403, AFA: GB 145). Its color is generally considered green. On the right (only identified by Stanley Gibbons) is SG 404 which is Light Blue Green.
